NURSING

Brooklyn Queens takes a family approach to care for our residents.

We reach out to families and work together to come up with effective treatment programs. We work with our residents to help them adapt to

a new environment and to enhance their quality of life.

Care is our priority.  Our home-like environment enables us to provide individualized and personalized care and the opportunity to achieve successful outcomes.  We are a true comprehensive care center, where our staff interacts as a team.  Residents' care plans are developed

with input from each department in the facility as well as input from

the residents and their family members.

SHORT TERM

Brooklyn Queens' renowned rehabilitative services have assisted residents in recovering from post stroke, falls that require hip or knee replacement, and other incapacitating illnesses. A primary physician is assigned upon admission to Brooklyn Queens to oversee their care.

Additionally, dental, podiatry, optometry, opthalmology, psychiatry, laboratory and radiology services are also provided at the facility. Residents may also utilize our top-notch barbershop services because when our residents look good, they feel good!

LONG TERM

RECREATION

Brooklyn Queens provides excellent long-term care to its residents.  We reach out to families and care for our residents as a whole person, not just a diagnosis.

Brooklyn Queens proudly offers specialized services for its Alzheimer's/Dementia residents. It is the mission of our program to provide rehabilitation services to individuals with significant behavioral difficulties resulting from neurological impairment.  Our program's goal is to deliver care in a safe, nurturing, therapeutic environment to assist our residents in reclaiming a place in society.  The sense of caring, community and common good that results provides our residents, and staff alike with the positive self-regard and a mutual respect that is essential to a successful partnership.

The recreation staff at Brooklyn Queens provides programs that meet the needs, capabilities and interests of the very diverse population who live at our facility. From our youngest resident to our oldest, we provide something for everyone. Our recreation team works with each resident and family to tailor programs to their individual likes and interests.  It is the goal of our recreation program to keep each resident interested, to keep their mind active, and to keep them in touch with the world and the community.

There is a large variety of programs offered at Brooklyn Queens.  Examples include exercise, cognitive retraining, parties, current events, games, cooking, men’s and women’s clubs, arts and crafts, and movies.

Many trips are scheduled for the enjoyment of our residents to restaurants, movie theaters, shopping malls and more.

REHABILITATION

DINING

We have a tremendous amount of pride in the nutritious meals served from our kitchen that meet the nutritional needs and preferences of our residents. Dietary requirements are very important, and our registered dietitian reviews what each resident needs for necessary nutrition.

Everything served at Brooklyn Queens is made from scratch.  Fresh food is used — the food we serve was not previously frozen or pre-made.  We provide therapeutic menus to our residents, taking into account food allergies. Some facility favorites are America style burgers, pizza, lasagna and more.

Brooklyn Queens has an active food committee that helps make meal plans, and since Brooklyn Queens serves such a wide range of patients, cultures and age groups, each patient population is asked for input on the menu items. Special food events include barbecues, parties and candlelight dinners that include invitations and participation of family members.
